Farm Fresh Eggs from Organic Fed Hens

  • Chicken Eggs

I started selling eggs in the fall of 2021. I am registered with the MN Department of Agriculture for off-farm egg sales. The chickens receive organic feed and organic scratch and the occasional treat from the garden. Oddly enough, they love my marigold plants at the end of summer. Marigolds are the only annual flower that I start indoors. I like to plant them by the tomatoes. I use organic seed from North Circle Seeds.

  • Our Chickens

We currently have a small flock of 10 hens. Due to predators here in the Northwoods, the chickens are only out of their run under supervision. They love playing with me in the gardens when I clean up in the fall. We have a variety of wildlife here from bobcat and coyote to weasels and hawks. Our coop, pictured below, is attached to a 10x24 run. I wrap the run every winter with clear shower curtains and they will play outside until it’s -20F.

Rory built an amazing coop & run and the kids bought me custom metal signs for it. The photo is a bit deceiving but the coop is 10’x12’ and the run is 10’x24’. The heavy duty framing, especially on the long run, is critical to handle our winter snow load.
